Half Life 2: Episode 3 is Happening!

If you're like me, and you hated the cliff hanger that happened at the end of Half Life 2: Episode 2, then this will be good news.  Half Life writer Marc Laidlaw, who left Valve in 2016, may have just revealed the proposed plot of  Half Life 2: Episode 3  on his personal website. In a post titled “Epistle 3,” Laidlaw presents what appears to be a thinly-veiled summary of Gordon Freeman’s long-missing adventure in the form of correspondence from someone named “Gertrude Fremont.”

Details in “Epistle 3” appear to line up with leaked and rumored details about Episode 3. Official artwork from the third Half-Life 2 episode (above) appeared to show the Borealis being observed by the Combine. Purportedly leaked concept art from Episode 3 appears to show Gordon and Alex in the Antarctic, standing near a crashed helicopter.
For his part, Laidlaw described the work as “fanfic” on Twitter, calling the story “a genderswapped snapshot of a dream I had many years ago.” He also addressed the mysterious relationship between The G-Man and Alex Vance, saying “I had no fixed ideas about this. Just planting seeds.”
“That is something Valve might still want to develop, flesh out and explain someday,” he said.
You can read the full text of “Epistle 3” at Laidlaw’s website. Or, if you prefer a version with the original Half-Life character names swapped in, someone went to that effort in a post on Pastebin. That version’s embedded below.

  1. I hope this letter finds you well. I can hear your complaint already, “Gordon Freeman, we have not heard from you in ages!” Well, if you care to hear excuses, I have plenty, the greatest of them being I’ve been in other dimensions and whatnot, unable to reach you by the usual means. This was the case until eighteen months ago, when I experienced a critical change in my circumstances, and was redeposited on these shores. In the time since, I have been able to think occasionally about how best to describe the intervening years, my years of silence. I do first apologize for the wait, and that done, hasten to finally explain (albeit briefly, quickly, and in very little detail) events following those described in my previous game (referred to herewith as Episode 2).
  2.
  3. To begin with, as you may recall from the closing paragraphs of my previous missive, the death of Eli Vance shook us all. The Resistance team was traumatized, unable to be sure how much of our plan might be compromised, and whether it made any sense to go on at all as we had intended. And yet, once Eli had been buried, we found the strength and courage to regroup. It was the strong belief of his brave daughter, the feisty Alyx Vance, that we should continue on as her father had wished. We had the Antarctic coordinates, transmitted by Eli's long-time assistant, Dr. Judith Mossman, which we believed to mark the location of the lost luxury liner Borealis. Eli had felt strongly that the Borealis should be destroyed rather than allow it to fall into the hands of the Combine. Others on our team disagreed, believing that the Borealis might hold the secret to the revolution’s success. Either way, the arguments were moot until we found the vessel. Therefore, immediately after the service for Dr. Vance, Alyx and I boarded a seaplane and set off for the Antarctic; a much larger support team, mainly militia, was to follow by separate transport.
  4.
  5. It is still unclear to me exactly what brought down our little aircraft. The following hours spent traversing the frigid waste in a blizzard are also a jumbled blur, ill-remembered and poorly defined. The next thing I clearly recall is our final approach to the coordinates Dr. Mossman has provided, and where we expected to find the Borealis. What we found instead was a complex fortified installation, showing all the hallmarks of sinister Combine technology. It surrounded a large open field of ice. Of the Borealis itself there was no sign…or not at first. But as we stealthily infiltrated the Combine installation, we noticed a recurent, strangely coherent auroral effect–as of a vast hologram fading in and out of view. This bizarre phenomenon initially seemed an effect caused by an immense Combine lensing system, Alyx and I soon realized that what we were actually seeing was the luxury liner Borealis itself, phasing in and out of existence at the focus of the Combine devices. The aliens had erected their compound to study and seize the ship whenever it materialized. What Dr. Mossman had provided were not coordinates for where the sub was located, but instead for where it was predicted to arrive. The liner was oscillating in and out of our reality, its pulses were gradually steadying, but there was no guarantee it would settle into place for long–or at all. We determined that we must put ourselves into position to board it at the instant it became completely physical.
  6.
  7. At this point we were briefly detained–not captured by the Combine, as we feared at first, but by minions of our former nemesis, the conniving and duplicitous Wallace Breen. Dr. Breen was not as we had last seen him–which is to say, he was not dead. At some point, the Combine had saved out an earlier version of his consciousness, and upon his physical demise, they had imprinted the back-up personality into a biological blank resembling an enormous grub. The Breen-grub, despite occupying a position of relative power in the Combine hierarchy, seemed nervous and frightened of me in particular. Wallace did not know how his previous incarnation, the original Dr. Breen, had died. He knew only that I was responsible. Therefore the grub treated us with great caution. Still, he soon confessed (never able to keep quiet for long) that he was herself a prisoner of the Combine. He took no pleasure from her current grotesque existence, and pleaded with us to end his life. Alyx believed that a quick death was more than Wallace Breen deserved, but for my part, I felt a modicum of pity and compassion. Out of Alyx ’s sight, I might have done something to hasten the grub’s demise before we proceeded.
  8.
  9. Not far from where we had been detained by Dr. Breen, we found Judith Mossman being held in a Combine interrogation cell. Things were tense between Judith and Alyx, as might be imagined. Alyx blamed Judith for her father’s death…news of which, Judith was devastated to hear for the first time. Judith tried to convince Alyx that she had been a double agent serving the resistance all along, doing only what Eli had asked of her, even though she knew it meant he risked being seen by her peers–by all of us–as a traitor. I was convinced; Alyx less so. But from a pragmatic point of view, we depended on Dr. Mossman; for along with the Borealis coordinates, she possessed resonance keys which would be necessary to bring the liner fully into our plane of existence.
  10.
  11. We skirmished with Combine soldiers protecting a Combine research post, then Dr. Mossman attuned the Borealis to precisely the frequencies needed to bring it into (brief) coherence. In the short time available to us, we scrambled aboard the ship, with an unknown number of Combine agents close behind. The ship cohered for only a short time, and then its oscillations resume. It was too late for our own military support, which arrived and joined the Combine forces in battle just as we rebounded between universes, once again unmoored.
  12.
  13. What happened next is even harder to explain. Alyx Vance, Dr. Mossman and myself sought control of the ship–its power source, its control room, its navigation center. The liner’s history proved nonlinear. Years before, during the Combine invasion, various members of an earlier science team, working in the hull of a dry-docked liner situated at the Aperture Science Enrichment Center in Lake Huron, had assembled what they called the Bootstrap Device. If it worked as intended, it would emit a field large enough to surround the ship. This field would then itself travel instantaneously to any chosen destination without having to cover the intervening space. There was no need for entry or exit portals, or any other devices; it was entirely self-contained. Unfortunately, the device had never been tested. As the Combine pushed Earth into the Seven Hour War, the aliens seized control of our most important research facilities. The staff of the Borealis , with no other wish than to keep the ship out of Combine hands, acted in desperation. The switched on the field and flung the Borealis toward the most distant destination they could target: Antarctica. What they did not realize was that the Bootstrap Device travelled in time as well as space. Nor was it limited to one time or one location. The Borealis, and the moment of its activation, were stretched across space and time, between the nearly forgotten Lake Michigan of the Seven Hour War and the present day Antarctic; it was pulled taut as an elastic band, vibrating, except where at certain points along its length one could find still points, like the harmonic spots along a vibrating guitar string. One of these harmonics was where we boarded, but the string ran forward and back, in both time and space, and we were soon pulled in every direction ourselves.
  14.
  15. Time grew confused. Looking from the bridge, we could see the drydocks of Aperture Science at the moment of teleportation, just as the Combine forces closed in from land, sea and air. At the same time, we could see the Antarctic wastelands, where our friends were fighting to make their way to the protean Borealis; and in addition, glimpses of other worlds, somewhere in the future perhaps, or even in the past. Alyx grew convinced we were seeing one of the Combine’s central staging areas for invading other worlds–such as our own. We meanwhile fought a running battle throughout the ship, pursued by Combine forces. We struggled to understand our stiuation, and to agree on our course of action. Could we alter the course of the Borealis? Should we run it aground in the Antarctic, giving our peers the chance to study it? Should we destroy it with all hands aboard, our own included? It was impossible to hold a coherent thought, given the baffling and paradoxical timeloops, which passed through the ship like bubbles. I felt I was going mad, that we all were, confronting myriad versions of ourselves, in that ship that was half ghost-ship, half nightmare funhouse.
  16.
  17. What it came down to, at last, was a choice. Judith Mossman argued, reasonably, that we should save the Borealis and deliver it to the Resistance, that our intelligent peers might study and harness its power. But Alyx reminded me she had sworn she would honor her father’s demand that we destroy the ship. She hatched a plan to set the Borealis to self-destruct, while riding it into the heart of the Combine’s invasion nexus. Judith and Alyx argued. Judith overpowered Alyx and brought the Borealis area, preparing to shut off the Bootstrap Device and settle the ship on the ice. Then I heard a shot, and Judith fell. Alyx had decided for all of us, or her weapon had. With Dr. Mossman dead, we were committed to the suicide plunge. Grimly, Alyx and I armed the Borealis, creating a time-travelling missile, and steered it for the heart of the Combine’s command center.
  18.
  19. At this point, as you will no doubt be unsurprised to hear, a Certain Sinister Figure appeared, in the form of that sneering trickster, the G-Man.  For once he appeared not to me, but to Alyx Vance. Alyx had not seen the cryptical schoolmarm (no male equivalent) since childhood, but she recognized him instantly. “Come along with me now, we’ve places to do and things to be,” said the G-Man, and Alyx acquiesced. She followed the strange grey man out of the Borealis, out of our reality. For me, there was no convenient door held open; only a snicker and a sideways glance. I was left alone, riding the weaponized luxury liner into the heart of a Combine world. An immense light blazed. I caught a cosmic view of a brilliantly glittering Dyson sphere. The vastness of the Combine’s power, the futility of our struggle, blossomed briefly in my awareness. I saw everything. Mainly I saw how the Borealis, our most powerful weapon, would register as less than a fizzling matchhead as it blew itself apart. And what remained of me would be even less than that.
  20.
  21. Just then, as you have surely already foreseen, the Vortigaunts parted their own checkered curtains of reality, reached in as they have on prior occasions, plucked me out, and set me aside. I barely got to see the fireworks begin.
  22.
  23. And here we are. I spoke of my return to this shore. It has been a circuitous path to lands I once knew, and surprising to see how much the terrain has changed. Enough time has passed that few remember me, or what I was saying when last I spoke, or what precisely we hoped to accomplish. At this point, the resistance will have failed or succeeded, no thanks to me. Old friends have been silenced, or fallen by the wayside. I no longer know or recognize most members of the research team, though I believe the spirit of rebellion still persists. I expect you know better than I the appropriate course of action, and I leave you to it. Except no further correspondence from me regarding these matters; this is my final episode.
  24.
  25. Yours in infinite finality,
  26.
  27. Gordon Freeman, Ph.D.

Destiny 2: New 3rd Sub Class!

Destiny 2: New 3rd Subclass!
Well it's been a minute since I last spoke with you video gaming community.  I come bearing good news about Destiny 2.   It has been confirmed that our Guardians will be getting a third subclass after all.
Though none of these preview playthroughs I have discovered “artifacts” found in the wild, so far one for a Warlock and one for a Hunter, that point to the fact that you will be able to undertake a series of tasks to unlock what appears to be the third Taken King subclass. The Hunter one is void and has a symbol of an arrow, which implies it may be a rework of Nightstalker. The Warlock one is arc (can’t really make out the symbol), but it may be Stormcaller. And Titans may get their hammers back, though I haven’t seen a relic for that yet.

Another screenshot shows a mission called “Arc Light Stirring” where players are asked to “rekindle their lost abilities” by participating in public events. This is presumably a multi-stage side-quest to re-unlock these classes, which is a relief to the community who was confused how Destiny could end with three subclasses and Destiny 2 would only be giving players two, which were all that were shown off the in beta. We still don’t know if we will actually start with those two at the beginning, or if those were just granted for preview purposes. But if the central storyline of Destiny is about resparking your lost light, it would make sense that you may have to undertake some sort of mission like this for a variety of classes.
Bungie
Destiny 2
This also opens up the possibility of a fourth subclass if Destiny 2 is launching with three. Given that The Taken King added a third a year after launch for Destiny 1, it stands to reason that a fourth could arrive with similarly substantive DLC in 2018. That’s exciting, as we’ve run out of elements, so Bungie would have to get pretty creative.
I just wanted to say thank you for tuning in.  Also, can you do me a favor and watch my live stream from 7-10 PM CST every night at Twich.tv/jetrecords

Dragon Ball Super 97 Controversial Again

I wish I had hardcore fans like Dragon Ball. Y'all real controversial and like giving rise or likely to give rise to public disagreement whenever I talk about DB Super.  Well, I'm going to speak my mind anyway lol...

This episode was what I have been waiting to see.  For those of you who have not been watching DB Super, there is an intergalactic battle royal going on.  There are 9 galaxies present with 8 to 10 participants on each team.  The two reasons for the battle royal is to see who's the strongest in all galaxies and one galaxy is destroyed when it is the loser.

For this series, the Z squad will be known as Team 7.  Team 7 consist of Piccolo, Gohan, Krillin, Andriod 17 and 18, Tien, Master Roshi, Goku, Vegeta and Frieza.  At one point, Majin Buu was on the team, but I do not know why he is gone.  Frieza took his place later.  If you can tell, me why then drop a comment in the comment section please.

In this episode 97, we see that Goku is the true favorite and everyone is trying to eliminate him first. The Supreme Kai and Gohan created a plan for all Team 7 to fight in a circle and stick together.  This strategy failed due to Frieza, Goku, Vegeta, Andriod 17 and 18 wanting to fight on their own.  The only ones that stuck to the strategy were Piccolo, Gohan, Krillin, Master Roshi, and Tien.

Two fighters from different galaxies got eliminated due to selfish motives.  One fighter tried to sacrifice himself and jump off the edge of the arena while taking Goku with him.  Goku powered up to super god mode and eliminated the dirty trickster.

Tbh, I'm waiting to see Kale which is Broly like SSJ and her sister Cabba the first female Super Saiyan.

There is another fighter named Toppo that everyone is afraid of who is part part of the pride troop from universe 11.  The pride troop are a self righteous elite group that believes they can be the hand of Justice in the universe.  This series promises to entertain and provide more of the tournament like settings which made Dragon Ball popular.  Feel free to drop a comment  or subscribe for more content.   Thanks community.

7 Days to Die Alpha 16 and Console Updates for PC, PS4 and Xbox One

SUMMER UPDATE

Hi everyone in the gaming community!  It's been a minute, since I was here.  Been on my new job and let's say they keep me busy.  I can't believe I missed E3 for the first time in 6 years. Sad face. Well, I'll go and see what good games are there and give you news on how close they are to release and what to expect.

Well, let's get down to business.  I was stoked to learn that an update for the new gen consoles is finally here.  I'm like most of you, and I don't play much of the PC stuff b/c i'm not an IT expert...yet . So I fill you in on what has happened.  Oh, by the way the grind is real on this update.  You can't mass craft to level up anymore.  You have to use skill points to improve you efficiency or gain perks

Tbh the console received similar updates to what the PC players got in the alpha 16 patch.  The alpha 16 patch was real buggy, but the console versions are more consistent and stable.  I will list all the information that I found in the official 7 Days to Die forum:

On 6/27/2017 at 12pm PST / 7pm UTC / 8pm GMT the long awaited update will be going live on the XB1 and PS4 stores!

Below is a copy of the notes which were shared with you already, but included are some preview shots of what you can expect later on today The team is very excited to release this update and I'm excited to jump in with you guys!

Just a mention of the usual stuff first...

- NOTES only apply to the fix DIRECTLY ABOVE them, unless otherwise stated

- do NOT post bug reports below. They belong in the CONSOLE BUG REPORT section.

- keep posts CIVIL and RESPECTFUL when discussing or giving feedback about the patch.

- please keep the post ON TOPIC. This post is for the discussion of this patch ONLY. (lets try actually stick to this this time ya?)

- I do NOT have further info on A15 or A16 features beyond what is in the notes or updates on MD5, Multiplayer issues and other fixes, when I have those updates they will get their own post.

Now without further ado, the information on Summer Update #1(Patch 10)!

7 Days to Die [Console]
Release Notes
Patch 10.0
PS4 Version 1.14
XB1 Version 1.0.14.0

Patch 10 begins releasing today! We can’t wait to see what crazy things you all end up creating with the new features we’ve included with this patch. Enjoy and happy surviving!

New Features

For those of you who follow development of the PC version of 7 Days to Die, the features below will probably look pretty familiar! Some of these features will require you start a new game to experience them. We've broken them into 2 sections below. Check them out!

Will Work in Existing Saves

Updated Sky and Weather Effects

Sky and weather effects have been updated to the full, more immersive Alpha 15 versions.

Dawn

New Lighting

Night Sky

Item Combination and Repair

The workbench UI has been updated to allow players to combine items in order to make items of better quality. Any two items of the same type with a quality score (such as tools, weapons, and armor) can be placed into the workbench and a new item of better quality will be created. The workbench can also be used to repair items using other lower quality items as fuel. Workbenches can now also be disassembled with a wrench.

Lootable Gore Blocks

Zombies and their gore blocks have been updated so that when a zombie corpse decays into a gore block, the gore block can still be looted for the same loot that would have been looted off the zombie corpse. Along with this, zombies will decay into gore blocks a lot sooner than they used to and will often, when enough damage is done, instantly turn into gore blocks upon death.

Will Require New Saves

New Items

Over 50 new items have been added this patch. They will be available from a variety of sources but only to players that start new games in Patch 10. Some of these new Items include:

o New plants and harvestables

o Various new types of scrap

o A whole slew of new clothing items to be found

Navezgane Fashion Trends

Feast your eyes on the latest in post apocalyptic fashion!

Ride off into the (new and improved) sunset in style!

New Block Types

Over 100 new blocks have been added to the game. There are several that help flesh out existing block sets with new pieces (corners and arrow slits), toggleable lights, drawbridges, and a new crafting station. These blocks will only be available to players that start new games in Patch 10. Here's a few examples of those below...(Comments by Clare)

Draw Bridge

For all your moat and "oh no you dont!" river crossing needs!

Jail Door

I've seen a few people ask about his block - wanting to add to their own prison builds!

Lights and Various Blocks

Let those Z's know your open for business! Or simple keep a light on for a weary traveller. There's also the rounded concrete blocks and should the weary traveller pass on, there's always the mortician block!

Stainless Steel Blocks

When the world is falling appart and most things are just a little rough around the edges, it's nice to have such lovely satisfyingly-smooth blocks to build with!

Cat Walks and Tree Houses

Another group of blocks players were eager to see! Stay up off the ground and take out Z's from afar or do a little hunting!

Cat Walk Bridges

Go up and over without placing loads of chunky blocks! I really like these minimalist bridg- hey wait a second.... is that a wooden Giraffe??!? Hmm... it appears to be a stag. Thanks okay then...

Farming Improvements

Farming has been improved in Patch 10. The concept of fertilized land has been added, along with 4 new seed types (Yucca, Mushrooms, Chrysanthemum, and Aloe). These new features will only be available to players that start new games in Patch 10.

New Recipes

Over 60 new recipes have been added to the game. Many of these have been added to complement the new Block Shapes and Farming features being added this patch, but a few exist to allow players to craft items that are already in the game. These new features will only be available to players that start new games in Patch 10.

Chemistry Station

A new crafting station, called the Chemistry Station has been added to the game. This station provides a way to craft many of the recipes you can craft on the campfire, using different, easier recipes and crafts those items in less time than the campfire.

Skills Updates and Balancing

Most of the changes done to the skills have been balancing ones. A lot of the changes were changing the level needed for next level requirements, changing the cost of some skills and the amount of experience needed to level those skills up. Two new skills were added (Chemistry Station and Breaking and Entering) and two were removed (10mm Round Crafting and Leather Tanning). These new features will only be available to players that start new games in Patch 10.

Bug Fixes and Improvements

Gameplay

· Fixed an issue causing the Basic Survival Quest 4/8 to require more wood than it takes to craft the Wooden Club

· Fixed an issue that allowed zombies to clip through doors and hatches while the player was upgrading them

· Fixed an issue that would prevent a player from standing after crouching in a 2x1 tunnel

· Fixed an issue causing throwing items to be thrown further and more quickly than intended

· Fixed an issue that would cause the player to be unable to harvest the top of a corn plant if they harvested the bottom first

· Fixed an issue that would occasionally cause pipe bombs to land directly at the player’s feet when thrown

Art/Audio

· Fixed an issue causing certain blocks to appear invisible from one side when upgraded

· Fixed an issue that caused Cotton Plants to be missing a texture

· Fixed an issue preventing Animal Hide Leg Armor from being displayed on the character model

· Fixed an issue causing the forge and campfire SFX to continue playing between exiting and loading a new save

· Fixed an issue that caused the water bottle icon to show incorrectly in the character tool belt after being filled

· Fixed an issue that caused SFX associated with cancelling an item in the crafting queue to play too loudly

· Fixed an issue that caused SFX associated footsteps to briefly become inaudible after the player would sprain/break a leg

System/Stability

· Fixed an issue that would cause the game to prompt the player to activate split-screen whenever they would exit the audio options

· Fixed an issue the would cause the session to temporarily freeze after cancelling crafting on a large quantity of items

We are thrilled to be releasing Patch 10 today. We couldn’t do what we do without your continued support! Thanks for being such an amazing community.

Dead Rising 4: Frank Rising DLC

"It's not too late to say you're sorry.  We're really both to blame when you think about..."
Frank West - Dead Rising 4

It's been a minute has isn't my friends.  Well, a lot has happened, but I will stick to business as usual. Seems like i'm not the only one that is back.  Frank West has found a way to come back to life in the Dead Rising 4 last DLC: Frank Rising.

Frank Rising DLC plays more like an alternate ending to the Dead Rising 4 game.  At the end of the game, we were left with a cliff hanger that Frank sacrificed himself to save Brad and Vick. Frank died falling from a helicopter just to be eaten by zombies.  All fans thought no way this is how the hero of the series meets his end after all he has survived.  Well, it was the true ending for Frank.  The DLC opens with a horde of zombies snacking on the remains of Frank body.  We watch with sad eyes seeing our hero is 100% dead and with a few chunks of flesh and clothing missing Frank is reborn as a super zombie.

With glowing lime green eyes, Frank changes sides and begins attacking humans as part of the zombie team.  Frank gains new abilities like acid vomit, sound wave created from a Skyrim like roar, eating others to regain health and pouncing on victims from a long distance.  Franks rampage with his new zombie friends is ended by Hammond opening an AK-47 clip on him.  When Frank takes a seat on a throne, Hammond recognizes him. The next thing we know is Frank being held in a cell where he was receiving treatments to become human again.

Due to some zombie science help by a researcher name Dr. Blackburne, Frank is resurrected as a half human and half zombie. The treatments cause adverse effects on Frank.  Zombies attack him because he is some what human, but he can't use human weapons or drive human .  Frank's new goal is
to gather all the solitary wasps known as princess wasps and take them to Barnaby science lab and try to make a cure to be human again.  The princess wasps alter the data in the zombie parasites and make Frank somewhat immortal.  Also, you have a timer to get this done and a short one. So, you really have no time to explore or stray from the task or long-term goal.

As I played this DLC, I felt developers could have added this DLC to the end of the game to resolve the story like they did with the original Dead Rising and the add-on would not have taken anything away from the game.  I really think, developers were debating on killing Frank off and judge whether fans missed the pioneer of the Dead Rising franchise.    It was a good DLC to restore Frank's humanity, but the ending will seem not worth it to bring Frank back tbh.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Plus Banned Footage Game Review

Where do you think you're going...

Resident Evil 7 takes you to a completely different world sat in Dulvey, Louisiana. The story revolves around finding the whereabouts of Ethan Winters missing wife, Mia who is kidnapped by the Baker family. With a lot of hype for use of the new Playstation VR technology and an attempt at new gaming experience to redeem the franchise, a lot was placed on RE7.  Can new developers deliver when the pressure is on harder than a horror movie?

In this latest installment of the Resident Evil series,  RE7 prioritizes tone over action, in true horror survival horror fashion, everything is in short supply and you must manage you limited inventory while exploring a linear game that is rare for the new open world games that are dominating the industry.

Most of the game revolved around being in tough situations and struggling to adapt.  It's all about changing up your survival tactics to meet each challenge, scavenging for items, and conserving what little ammo you have.  I was happy to see some core elements that hadn't been in Resident evil since the 1990's games return as a factor.

In RE7, there is a strong sense of returning to the tradition of placement that makes frequent exploration and back track work without wearing out its welcome.  As an attempt to move away from the antics of Wesker and the umbrella corporation, RE7 introduces new antagonist known as the Baker family.

The Baker family descent into savagery and the way it has manifested into their domestic life.  The Baker family really uphold southern stereotypes that come off as dated yet funny.  Each family member has a quirk that gives you a challenge: whether it's your face terror by Jack the father. whether a stealth approach by Marguerite the wife, whether it's by Lucas the son setting traps like the movie Saw to keep you off balance and make you afraid of things you once took for balance.

Negatives

  • The only low point was the simple puzzle solving that has been a trend of the series since it went main stream.
  • There were moments were you are putting into a linear progression and wasting bullets on enemies that can't be killed until certain moments feel like poor execution of the capabilities.
  • The big draw to RE7 was the introduction of Playstation VR for a major title game.  My resident evil experience was good with and without VR.  There were only a handful of sequences that were designed to take advantage of the new technology.  Tbh the only time you really get the best use out of the technology is when fighting in enemy in close corners.

Positives

  • The atmosphere is similar to Silent Hill PT.  manages to handle horror/survival and first person shooter well.
  • There is a compelling pace that made pulling levers, finding keys to lock doors and dodging enemies feel natural.  Even the out of place puzzle solving felt a like shallow nods  to a by gone era rather than a constant continuation the elements that defined and invented.

Overall, I think they were ambitious, but developers didn't do much with the 10 hour campaign to keep you compel to want more.  It's opportunity there, but the game fell short on capitalizing that opportunity.  Resident Evil 7: Bio hazard is a good game not a great game.  It was a nice break from fighting zombies and umbrella corporation mercenaries, but I didn't feel the character development was there nor engagement to see the story conclude a certain way.  Overall, I give RE7 an 8 out 10.

The Walking Dead Season 7 Part 2 Spoiler Alert and Secret!

;

A new day, new hero

It's been a while since I posted.  New year, new job, new relationship and new life have all kept me busy. I hope all you are doing well and enjoy 2017!  Well, I did some investigating, and I found out a big secret...

Spoiler alert: Heath will be the major character that gets bumped off on the walking dead in season 7 part 2.  It makes sense because Corey Hawkins has a major role as the lead actor on 24 Legacy premiering after the Super Bowl on Fox.  I doubt he will have time to play both roles nor accept having a minor role on the AMC team when he's a lead on Fox.

A lesson from the anime Haikyuu: A negative attitude can't help a team win

Hello video gaming and Otaku community.  I haven't posted in a while since it's the holidays. To be honest, no good games have came out in a while.  In the meantime, I have been marathon watching some of my favorite anime.

One anime that caught my interest for 10 hours straights was Haikyuu.  It's a show about an under-qualified athlete that has the hope of winning a national championship in men's volley.  The reason the show caught my interest was the psychology of sports and the character analysis.

The antagonist of the show character analysis really made me evaluate some of my social interactions. The antagonist is nicknamed the "King of the Court".  The reason he has that nickname is due to his tendency to be a dictator and an attitude to push those on his team hard to meet impossible goals he can't achieve himself.  At one point during a tournament, he was so hard on his teammates that his team leaves him and abandons him during the game.  The coach of the team calls a timeout to bench the King of the Court, which forever changes him and makes him doubt himself.

As a result of his character flaws, he was blacklisted from top sports programs due his behavior and bad attitude. Due to his blacklisting, the King of the Court ends up on a bad team that is not a contender for the nationals but he's glad to still have the chance to play again.  When he came to the new team, the his captain prevented him from joining the team until the King of the Court overcame his character flaws despite his talent.  The captain's reasoning for this demand was an understanding that someone who thinks he's better than everyone else and uncooperative can never work well with a team.

The antagonist trained with the protagonist Hinata until he was able to let go of his pride, bad attitude and arrogance.  Eventually, the protagonist and antagonist became the stars of the team.  The two stars cooperation helps the team evolve from being underdogs to the national champions.  It's an amazing anime, and I highly recommend you watch a few episodes.

Dead Rising 4 Review - Dreaming of Red Christmas

"Rumors of human trials, psychopaths, illegal human experimentation, abandoned missile sites. How can you say no to this Frank ?  This is our change please!"

Frank West is back for Dead Rising 4, and he is kicking serious butt just in time for Christmas.  This time around Dead Rising puts you in a small town of Willamete, where you must use your journalism skills to uncover a scientific mystery, report your findings/evidence and save the world from another deadly zombie outbreak.  Dead Rising 4 is a fill good button masher mixed with a little over the top drama, challenges to overcome impossible odds, and utilizing your environment to be creative and dominate maniacs that want you dead or zombies that want you for a meal.

What's New?
Capcom nailed Frank's personality, bizarre charm, presentation and story.  Fundamentally, combat has not evolved nor the challenges from the three prior dead rising games.  The biggest change is the removal of the countdown timer which allows you to explore more and have fun without pressure to get everything done in 72 hours deadline.  The reason the developers removed the timer was because this dead rising world is dense and loaded with challenges to encourage you to have fun!  There are endless amounts of survivors to save, blueprints to find, and weapons/vehicles to craft.  A big bonus is you are no longer forced to seek out a workbench to craft your combo weapons or vehicles from the blueprints.  All you need to craft from blueprints are the required materials.

Photography plays more than a tool to level up. Frank's camera has new batman like filters that let you detect hidden clues, use night vision or take selfies. They borrowed the exo-suit from the call of duty series which will give you an advantages in hoards melee fights or maniac boss battles.  There are no longer stronger zombies at night.  They are replace with a fresh infected zombies that come out at all hours and they are faster, smarter and stronger.  You can't throw melee weapons anymore as well.

What's wrong?
If you are familiar with the Dead Rising series, then you know glitches are bound to happen.  Textures pop in and out, frame rates stutter, clipping and collision issues get annoying, new crafted vehicles are undriveable,  and you can fall through levels.  They drop the co-op player mode and replaced the mode with a multi-player mode.  It's good in theory but with glitch issues and lost connections, it can really make the game unplayable.

Overall
I feel Dead Rising always found a way to capture an audience share culture and break down walls of what is expected from a good game.  Instead of zombie outbreak/weapon, the experiments are used to mass produced unskilled labor to do mundane task like farming or manufacturing.   If you're a fan of Dead Rising, then you know what you're getting.  If you not a fan, then you aren't going to find a hidden gem here.  Dead Rising 4 is a care free, have fun, and laid back game with enough content to keep the story paces and side quest to challenge you.  I'm a fan of the series so I give Dead Rising 4 a 8.5/10
