Metal Gear Solid Lore

Few franchises are as thought provocative as the Metal Gear Solid franchise.  Conspiracy theories run rapid as gamers try to make sense of the Metal Gear lore and Hideo Kojima's twisted mind.  This complexity has alienated a significant portion of the gaming community.  With the pending release of Metal Gear Solid 5, there is no time more paramount then now to begin comprehending the intricacies of the franchise's story.   Therefore, I have taken upon myself to give a helping hand in the overwhelming endeavor of making sense of the Metal Gear Lore.

1920s
It is important to start at the beginning, the foundation of the Metal Gear franchise series.  Where is the timeline is thegenesis, the starting point?  Let's begin with the foundation of the organization known as the "The Philosophers".  The foundation of the "The Philosophers" is the single event that separates the real world from the alternate world of Metal Gear Hideo Kojima created.

Founded in 1922 after WWI, "The Philosophers" were created and consisted on the wealthiest and smartest minds from the United States, Soviet Union, and the Republic of China.  The original founders of "The Philosophers" became known as the "Wiseman's Committee".  "The Wiseman's Committe" sole purpose was to stir the world away from brutal and needless warfare.  As years passed, corruption and greed broke up the group.

1930s
In the 1930s, the last member of the Wiseman's Committee" was assassinated after he revealed the dark secrets of the organization to his daughter.

His daughter would later go on to have a legacy, a will that shaped the entire metal gear franchise.  The name of that girl is "The Boss".  With all the original members of the Wiseman Committee dead, new members would replace their seats and change the original righteous intentions of the group into strategies for money and power.

In the following decade, the new philosophers would under-mind their local governments while training a new generation of super-soldiers and spies to spread global influence until they created endless cycles of conflict and war until war became an economy control by their will alone.

During that decade several key Metal Gear characters were born.  In 1935, John was born.  John would later take on the name "Big Boss".  He would give birth to three super soldiers known as Solid, :iquid and Solidus Snake.

In May 1936 Eva was born.  Another key character named Eva (Tatyana) later known as Big Mama.  She was born in American, but she was taken by "The Philosophers" to be raised in their sleeper agent. Later she became a double agent for KGB and Chinese People's Liberation Army.  She was tasked with finding the Philosopher's Legacy.   Later became the surrogate mother of Solid Snake and Liquid Snake.

In June 1936 Dr. Clarke known as Para-medic was born.  She would grow up to become the chief of Foxhound medical staff and founding member of the Patriots.

During the 1930s, Major Zero known as Cipher is a 30 year old fully trained agent.  Major  Zero was commander of CIA group FOX.  Major Zero along with Big Boss became founders of the Patriots.

In 1939, Donald Anderson later known as Sigint would be born.  Later, Sigint would go on to become a member of Fox, founder of the Patriots, Chief of DARPA which would support the development of Metal Gear Rex.

1940s
Later, a dark chapter in history would be written known as World War 2.  In WWII, to ensure the victory of the Allied forces, "The Philosopher's" came together to create a fund of $100 billion now that would be $1.3 Trillion.  This mass fund become known as the "Philosopher's Legacy".  This endless pool of money would later be used to fund weapon projects such as rockets, nuclear weapons, superhuman soldiers known as "the Cobra Unit".

During WWII, The Boss gets pregnant by Cobra Unit spirit medium The Sorrow.  On D-Day, The Boss gives birth to Revolver Ocelot.

In 1945, Hal Otacon Emmerich was conceived by a scientist from the Manhattan Project and born when the U.S.detonated the first nuclear missiles over Nagasaki and Hiroshima.  Thus laying the ground work to end WWII.

WWII ended and Boris Valgin laundered the funds of the Philosopher's Legacy in banks all over the world. The transactions for all the bank deposits was placed on a single microfilm and is said to be the "Philosopher's Legacy itself.

After the world saw the power of nuclear warfare.  The threat of global nuclear war became a deterrent as members of the Manhattan Project disbanded and went to the highest bidders to share their nuclear weaponry design secrets. The Cold War began and thus four decades of espionage interpreted by Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid began.  Hideo Kojima was born in 1963 in Japan, but he was educated on the effects war has on the world.  The franchise Metal Gear Solid was Kojima's way of showing this generation the effects of war, definitions of death, games of espionage used to grease the wheel of industry and control power. Kojima wanted to show that the one's truly effected by the choices those in power make are the innocent citizens that get caught up in war.

Well, that's the back story of all the events that lead up to the first Metal Gear Solid being released.  If I get 1000 hits, then I'll continue the Metal Lore.
