Sleeping Dogs developed by Square Enix was suppose to be the third addition to the true crime series name True Crime: Hong Kong. If you remember the True crime games then you remember how they were always stealing elements from other games but doing it horribly wrong, and this game is no different.
Sleeping Dogs has the allure of the open world game GTA 4, but replaced gta 4 greatness with bootleg copy sat in hong kong. Sleeping dogs stars a double agent cop in hong kong named Wei Shen. Players control Wei, as he goes undercover to infiltrate the Sun On Yee Triad organization. The hype is good, but execution of the plot in the game failed.
The minor problem is the glitches, but the major problem is depth. A lot of areas could have been developed to help the game get continuity. One example is the dating system only being one date with the girls which is a mission compared to GTA 4 where you have a relationship with the girls thru out the game. The other drawback is developers sold you on aspects of drugs, prostitution, and other illegal activity going on like in gta, but the most you see is see is a black screen when you go to massage palors or guy in a brief case walking around but you can't buy drugs. The major fail is the main storyline mission. The main game is really 33 mini missions that earn you Cop or Triad Xp. The real messed up part is developers sold gamers on the choice of siding with the triad or cops, but...yeah you guessed it...no matter what you do you'll still be a cop. I'm what the fuck.
Acting is okay with a few stars like emma stone cameo, but Sleeping Dogs lack of depth can't be overlooked. I give Sleeping dogs a 6/10. It's a little past average but not good enough to be a good game.
