After launching Jan 12, 2017, Anime Strike less than a year ago, Amazon has shut down its anime-specific streaming channel. The company has also shut down Heera, its Bollywood-focused channel.
A spokesperson from Amazon stated"We have decided to move the curated catalogs of Anime Strike and Heera into Prime Video so that more customers can enjoy this content as part of their Prime membership."
Amazon's catalog of streaming anime, which previously required both a Prime membership and a $5 per month Anime Strike subscription, is now available to all Prime members. Amazon has been criticized for its double paywall .
What is double paywall? Double wall pay means you have to have the $100 Amazon prime membership plus pay $5 a month to watch the exclusively licensed anime featured only on its channel.
