Silent Hill Downpour Review

To be honest, all the silent hill games have sucked since Silent Hill 3. I picked up this one because y'all say that its a can't miss. I am happy to say that finally the Silent Hill franchise has returned to its glory days.  Silent Hill Downpour is the lastest and greatest Silent Hill for the next gen of consoles.

Silent Hill Downpour developed by Vatra Games is a survival horror game in which the player explores environments, solving puzzles and fighting monsters.

Players control Murphy Pendleton from a third-person perspective.  Murphy has been incarcerated for several years at Ryall State Corrections Facility for stealing a police cruiser. Seeking revenge for an unspecified incident.

The gameplay is awful.  Developers of the SH franchise always say that's intentionally mess with gamers minds, so I'll let it slide.  Graphic are better the previous SH for later consoles, but it could be better. Many times it seem you only can look at the environment but you can't interact with anything like we have gotten use to in Fallout or Skyrim.  Sound is amazing. The usual unnevering eerie music and sound effects add to the suspense.   Storyline is...well better than the other games.  It's not SH3 or SH2 where it's going to make you think or question could this be real, but it's a game.

In all fairness since I gave ME3 a low score, Silent Hill Downpour gets one as well because where it fails is delivery.  There were a lot of linear paths in the game where we are in an era of open exploration, SH Downpour seems dated.  It's really the game that should have came 3 years ago.  With that being said, I give Silent Hill Downpour a 6 out 10.
