The all out galactic war has begun. The earth has been taken and the Reapers have laid a path of destruction in their wake. Commander Shepard and his forces are fighting a counter assault and you are dead center in the conflict. The choices you made in the 1st two games determine many outcomes of Mass Effect 3.
Bioware debuted the soon to be released demo for Mass Effect 3, and it did not disappoint. As gameplay started "right away you'll noticed weapons are more hardhitting and Shepard's mobility has way improved." said executive producer Casey Hudson.
From the looks of the gameplay combat and cinematics have been more finely weaved together. Improvements on the melee combat will be enhance by a new weapon called the omni-blade. The omni is a hologram blade that you can flip out like a switch blade that can be used in melee attacks. Moving around the environment seem more fluid which will allow you to get more in and out of trouble or be stealthier and lethal to unaware enemies.
A few enemies carrying shields mimic more complex behavior uncomparable to the previous ME games. The biggest eye grabbing moment in my opinion was the Reapers destroying the Earth in the background as you are locked in combat navigating across the roof tops of collapsing buildings.
Mass Effect 3 promises to be an emotional journey that will tie up loose ends. Being able to import your character and the decisions made in ME1 and ME2 will determine who is alive or dead, and the way you treated some characters will determine who will aid or turn their back on you in the middle of an all out war.
Confirmed Released Date: 3/6/2012 for Xbox 360, PC, and PS3.
